A Cal Cycling Jersey – Yale Blue And Gold?

You’re riding in your Cal cycling jersey, full of pride in the blue and gold. But where did the blue come from? Well according to the lore of old, Cal was established over a century ago primarily by a gaggle of Yale men who’d come west. In a devious move designed to forever taint Cal with a Yale stench, they designated Blue (Yale Blue) and Gold as the school colors.

Put that in your Telegraph Avenue think-tank and smoke it. On second thought, while smoking and Telegraph Avenue are synonymous, ‘Telegraph Avenue Think Tank’ defines oxymoron.

But back to the business at hand.

A Cal jersey says ‘I’m one smart cookie’. It says ‘While I’m not an arrogant private University guy like those students named Cardinal (not the bird, mind you), I’m forever tainted by the Yale roots which until now I was blissfully unaware- ‘Curse this ridiculous site’.

I know the front of the Cal jersey only says, ‘Cal’ and defines classy, but what of the back side?

The back side is as classy as the front- well as classy as a public University’s jersey can be (my arrogant Stanford friend made me say that).

As for me, if I study real hard I’m sure I’ll pass that GED exam someday. I wonder what the GED cycling jersey looks like?

I get to about this point on most of my pages and think, ‘I wonder who’s still reading this drivel?’

But if you’re still with me, I know that Cal is ranked right up there with the best Universities in the world, and should you ride in a Cal cycling jersey you’ll be seen as one smart dude or dudette.
